Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

The curriculum is designed to help give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.

The SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) strategy, combined with ELLI (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory) and our school values underpin all aspects of life at Westbury Park School.

PHSE is delivered during dedicated time often using Circle Time to encourage reflection and discussion.

Sex and Relationship Education (SRE)

SRE is an integral part of the PSHE curriculum. Delivery is based on the ‘Lifelines’ programme ensuring that it meets the needs of all children and is developmentally appropriate. The programme allows children to explore values and attitudes regarding SRE and equips them with the knowledge to understand their own physical and emotional development.

The school regards parents/carers as essential partners in the provision of SRE. Parents are invited to view the materials used and are made aware of their right to withdraw their children from this part of PSHE curriculum.
